Engineering & Design Services
CanMaple Consultant provides ten in-house engineering and design disciplines for building and site projects across Edmonton and Alberta — civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, architecture & design, construction and project management, material takeoff, machine control modelling, and building condition assessment.
Each service is scoped individually rather than sold as a fixed package. Projects that need more than one discipline are coordinated directly within the same team, so structural, mechanical and electrical decisions are checked against each other as the design develops — not reconciled after separate consultants each finish independently. Browse the services below, or contact CanMaple to discuss which disciplines your project needs.

Design Disciplines vs. Project Delivery
CanMaple's ten services split naturally into two groups. The design disciplines — civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, and architecture & design — produce the drawings, calculations and specifications a project is built from. The project delivery services — construction management, project management, material takeoff, machine control modelling and building condition assessment — support getting a project through tendering, construction and, for existing buildings, ongoing capital planning. Many projects use services from both groups; some need only one.
Design Disciplines
Used when a project needs something designed, calculated or drawn — new construction, an addition, a structural modification, or a coordinated multi-discipline building design.
Project Delivery
Used when a project needs support getting through construction, tendering or capital planning — or when the building already exists and needs to be evaluated rather than designed.
How to Choose a Starting Point
If you're not sure which service applies, these are the most common starting points:
- Planning new construction or an addition — start with structural engineering or architecture & design, depending on whether you already have a design.
- Buying, renovating, or planning capital budgets for an existing building — start with building condition assessment.
- Developing land or servicing a site — start with civil engineering.
- Already have a design and need help through construction — see construction management or project management.
Working Alongside Other Consultants
Not every project needs CanMaple for every discipline. It's common for CanMaple to be engaged as the structural or mechanical engineer of record on a project where an architect, another engineering firm, or a contractor is leading — coordinating through the project's regular design and construction process rather than requiring the whole scope to run through one firm. The reverse is also common: CanMaple leads a multi-discipline project and coordinates with a client's existing legal, financial or specialist consultants outside its own scope.
